I Dared to Wax with Bubblegum!

Now, before any of you think of waxing with bubblegum, I'm here to tell you that this is not the case. While we did go for a waxing session, it was not using bubblegum. Bubblegum is actually the name of the Waxing Parlour that we went to, and it's located (rather conveniently) in Plaza Damas :)

It was a really pinky girly affair as we made our way upstairs to Bubblegum House of Wax. Everything looked so cute, I almost didn't want to eat it. There was Ice Cream with all sorts of toppings and syrup, cookies, noodles, and bread sticks!

This table was located at the middle of the reception area, and I was actually quite amazed that the ice cream survived so long without melting!

Towards the side, there were all sorts of other sweet delicacies all lined up in the cabinet. Macarons of all colours, toppings for the ice cream, bikini bottom cookies, and noodles that came in either Thai, or Teriyaki :D

Yup, you heard me right! Those are bikini bottom cookies! All of them were so cutely decorated, I didn't have the heart to bite into them. BUT, bite into them I must! Furthermore, these were all home made so I had to give one a try at least. It tastes great! What more can you ask for when you get Ask! Joey to be your event planner? Every detail is always so meticulously planned out :D Love them to bits!

Thanks to Mamasan Tammy who found out about the Little Wonton Charcoal Noodles, she got all of us noodles to fill our tummies while we were waiting for the waxing sessions to begin! There are two flavours, Teriyaki, and Thai. Of course, I took the Thai flavour :D

Contents of the charcoal noodle takeout. It comes with a little tub of sauce that you should pour into the takeout container, it has eggs, fishcakes, chicken slices, and even vegetables. Talk about eating healthy :D And they're yummy too! Definitely need to find out where they have Little Wonton outlets so that I can have more of these :)

Before we started our waxing session, we were introduced to the founder of Bubblegum House of Wax, Ms. Jess. Love how she looks so stylish in her dress, feminine yet strong at the same time. She shared with us her passion for waxing, and how she decided to come out on her own and open a waxing parlour for her clientele. It was a great story, and one can't help but admire how far she has come :)

So after that, we were given a tour of the place, and we had the opportunity to take a look inside the waxing rooms.

Bubblegum Wax offers two types of wax for their customers, being hard, and soft wax. Hard wax is located on the right which is red in colour, and the soft wax is on the left, which looks red in here, but is actually yellow when held up to the light. Because the yellow wax is soft, it tends to be a little more sticky compared to the hard wax, thus it will be more painful when tearing it off.

Because I'm a Brazilian waxing virgin (not anymore!), my consultant, Wendy told me that they will be using a combination of soft and hard wax to remove all my hair, as I have never done this before, so the hair will be a little more stubborn to remove.

All in all, considering the circumstances, it was painful in the beginning when the first few strips of wax was removed, but after a while, you sort of got used to the pain, so it's not too bad for me. However, the wax is HOT HOT HOT and I would say the pain would come from the burning of the wax in my nether regions rather than the pulling off of my hair :p

Personally, I think it was very awesome of my consultant to explain to me why they do certain things and what I can do to take care of my skin after waxing, as there will be open pores and wounds. She advised me on what I should do when I bathe, after I bathe, and when I just felt a little discomfort and itch.

I felt really comfortable with her, and despite it being my first time opening up to another person, I didn't feel at all shy as she made me feel at ease immediately. I daresay the next time I come back for my waxing session, I will request for her to be my consultant again :)

Here's me with Wendy, my Brazilian consultant :) No, she's not Brazilian, if any, she's more chinese :p She was really awesome and professional about handling me, and if at first I felt a little shy, it was quickly overcome by her friendliness :)

That day, to keep ourselves occupied while waiting for our turn to enter the waxing room, we were given a challenge to design our own BBG Waxing Box Kit with a shoebox that we were requested to bring from home. The BBG goodies that we could use was the Aloe Vera Gel, Hygiene Wipes, Soothing Cream, Spray Deodorant (which is super good, btw), some Bubblegum, and the BBG Mug! We were also given BBG stickers and fillers to put into our shoe box so that it didn't look too empty, and the rest is left up to our imagination!

I was one of the first to finish decorating the box, but of course, it was mostly cos I wasn't as creative as the rest :p

And the winners of the BBG Waxing Box Kit are (anticlockwise from top) Teo Chin Lu (first prize RM500 BBG Wax voucher), Angeline Ng (second prize RM300 BBG Wax voucher), and Mai Sarah (third prize RM150 BBG Wax voucher). All their boxes were so beautifully decorated!

Managed to take some pics with some of the the butterflies of the day :) As you might have noticed in some of the other pictures, the theme of that day was pink! so everyone wore something with a hint of pink :)

Wondering how much waxing services cost? here's a price list for you!! :) Yes, Men (right) and Women (left) both also can wax :D

It was a great virgin experience for me for Brazilian waxing, and you can be sure that I will definitely return again! It was a morning of great food, great company, no screams of terror, and full of laughs!

Thanks TBP for extending me and invite and for accepting my dare to wax with Bubblegum :)

Sector Focused Career Fair in UiTM

Last week, Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp) hosted a Sector Focus Career Fair (SFCF) today at University Teknologi Mara (UiTM). This was part of a program to optimise Malaysian talent, as well as facilitating awareness among the public of the career opportunities available in priority sectors under the 11 National Key Economic Areas (NKEAs). This SFCF UiTM was a joint effort between TalentCorp, Graduan, MDeC and UiTM

The main focus areas for the fair were Shared Services and Outsourcing (SSO).

Personally, I felt that this was a very good programme as it gave students (our young talent) the exposure and opportunity for our young Malaysian graduates to pursue an exciting career with the fast growing shared services sector.

This is a good move on our part as the success of our Economic Transformation Programme depends on having the right quantity and quality of talent, to support Malaysia’s priority sectors to move up the value chain and continue growing.

Another great thing that I observed was that large organisations were also giving their support to this initiative. Amongst the big Corporations that I saw includes AIG, DHL, Electrolux, Frost & Sullivan, GlaxoSmithKline, HP, IBM, LaFarge, Sime Darby and PwC.

The SFCF provides an opportunity for graduates to meet with CEOs and senior HR representatives of participating companies, while providing a platform for companies to scout for potential talent from universities in Malaysia. Several critical industries are in need of top talent, and the undergraduates are able to use this opportunity to better understand these developing sectors in Malaysia. The companies also have the opportunity to educate the public about industry developments, sectoral branding and increase understanding of the SSO sector.

The two-day event included Career Talks and Couch Corner Slot. Career Talks is a platform developed for the young generation to engage with prominent industry leaders while the Couch Corner Slot was designed for the visitors, especially students, to interact with the companies in a relaxed atmosphere.

Wonder Food Adventure at 1 Utama

Holla Foodholics!

I've got a special treat for you today, because I will be blogging about 1 Utama's special Wonder Food Adventure that was organised just for us at the Butterfly Project! This was a free and easy food hunt exclusively designed for 50 of us food and lifestyle bloggers to explore and savour the wide variety of chic eateries offered at 1 Utama Food Street!

Fun Fact: Did you know, that 1 Utama is the World's 4th Largest Mall?!?!

The day officially started at 11am where we registered and were all given a passport to go around to 15 exclusive eateries to sample the food and bask in the atmosphere. In our goodie bag we had a special edition christmas pillow, juice, a power bank, special coupons to enjoy ourselves at the booths, and a special RM50 shopping voucher for our ONECARD, where we can use to redeem for all sorts of privileges+, including for shopping and dining :D

In conjunction with the Wonder Food Adventure, we had an interesting array of activities to enjoy, amongst which are the Nail Art and Tattoo section, where we can go for a manicure, and also airbrush tattoo :D

When I arrived at the booth, there were quite a lot of people queuing up for the manicure, so I decided to go for the airbrush tattoo instead. There were many designs to choose from, and I there was one particular design that I loved , so I got that one immediately.

And the other girls all loved it too!!! ahaha so we had matching rose tattoos :D

So apart from all the wonderful booths to pamper ourselves, let's move on to the main highlight of the day, which was the Wonder Food Adventure!

There are altogether 15 halal and non-halal eateries that we visited, and I will list all these in the post below. First up, is Ninja Joe! This is the only non-halal fast food chain that I know of in Malaysia, and it's great that they are one of the stops in our 1 Utama Wonder Food Adventure!

As is with any fast food outlets, they offer many types of food sets and burgers, some of them featuring pork! Who wouldn't want to come for these delicious burgers, especially some of those exotically names Cheezila?

Our second outlet was BBQ Chicken, located at LG Highstreet. BBQ Chicken has many outlets across KL, and this was my first time in this outlet at 1 Utama. I loved their Chicken, and I personally felt that the food was in a class of its own. I will definitely come back again :)

Viva la Vida! But in this case, it's Vivo, which is an outlet that I'm pretty sure everyone will be familiar with as it is everywhere! We managed to try their Pizza, chicken chop, and their super famous Chocolate Lava Cake with Ice Cream! One of the more affordable western food outlets in 1 Utama, I would say that this is a must visit place if you are craving for food like pizza and spaghetti :D

When their Chocolate Lava Cake arrived, all of us took the opportunity to pose with it :p It was so delectably good that I didn't have anything after that as I just wanted to savour it's flavourful chocolate and sweet Vanilla ice cream :)

Food Box is another non-halal outlet in 1 Utama which is famous for its steamed cakes. The shop is located at LG Highstreet, and is directly opposite Cold Storage. They serve many types of food, including the normal chinese dishes that we have in local chinese restaurants.

Next to it was a dessert and cake shop called Molten Lava, famous for their cinnamon fingers :) Apart from that, they also sett Marble cakes, mini cupcakes, and lots and lots of Macarons!!!! If you do come here, you have to try their Cinnamon fingers :) It's not actually called cinnamon fingers, but that's how they look like :p They are delicious :D

Next is the much loved Chinese favourite, Bak Kut Teh!!!! BKT is a chinese dish, cooked with herbs and pork ribs and mushrooms and tofu. Sinfully fattening and delectable, I simply couldn't resist going into this shop and ordering their string tied pork, which is one of their famous dishes. In 1 Utama, you can find the famous Pao Xiang Bah Kut Teh at LG Promenade :)

For those that want something light, there's also something for you at the Food Street, and that's the Seaweed Club! Seaweed Club is a very special popiah roll encased in seaweed and other condiments. It tastes similar to popiah, but with the distinct seaweed taste, and crunchy bite of crackers. Isn't it awesome that 1 Utama has these specialty food in Food Street?

Cupcake lovers, get ready to drool as we stopped by Bisou, the cupcake house to try out their delectable cupcakes! For that day, we were treated to their cupcake of the month, which is the chocolate cupcake :) It is sinfully delicious, and tastefully rich! I used to think that Bisou was only available at KLCC, but now that it's also available in 1 Utama, I can have these delectable cupcakes whenever I go to 1 Utama!

If you're a little more traditional and prefer traditional chinese hawker fare, you can make your way to the Eat & Happy Yong Tau Foo where you can have the typical Yong Tau Foo with your selection of noodles and soup.

The happy snackers can hang out at I Love Yoo, munching on Peanut cakes and sipping on porridge while watching the world pass you by. This is a simple stall serving food that you can never go wrong with, so it's a definite must stop if you're feeling a tiny rumble in your tummy but it's not quite time to have dinner or lunch yet :p

Korean food lovers can head over to the Ko Hyang Korean Country Delights, where they serve really authentic Korean fare. I had the chance to try out their Kimchi Jigae (which is my favourite Korean dish), and it tastes really good.

Did you know, that Oysters are an aphrodisiac? If you're craving for Oysters, you can just drop by Oyster King at LG Promenade to try out all their Oyster dishes! I love their Garlic Oyster dish, so please try it when you are in 1 Utama!

SS2 Goreng Pisang provides the best authentic fried foods available in Malaysia, including banana fritters, fried prawn crackers, and many many more.

Whenever I head over to Melaka, I always make a beeline for the Jonker 88 shop, to savour their super duper good Cendol. But now with Mr. Cendol in 1 Utama, I don't have to head over to Melaka just to have delicious cendol :) The best part is, they even allow you to take away in take away cups!

I first tried Lammeeya, I was blown away with their steamed pork and Asam Seafood. It was a total blessing in disguise that Lammeeya was in the Wonder Food list, so I could manage to eat to my heart's content :D

Woohoo I managed to get to all 15 eateries!!!

What I loved was that we get to sample not only the halal food, but also the non-halal food, which is what's available at 1 Utama's Food Street. There are so many varieties of food available in 1 Utama, that I promise you, you will never go hungry if you were to come and shop at 1 Utama.

The best part is, when you shop and eat at 1 Utama, you get to earn points with your ONECARD! ONECARD is 1 Utama's official privilege card where you get to earn 1 UPoint for every RM1 spent at ONECARD participating outlets (which is a lot). Once you have accumulated these points, you get to redeem them like cash to pay for instant purchases, meals, services, and entertainment!

ONECARD can also be used as a prepaid parking ticket for hassle free parking. This is also an eco-friendly initiative to reduce paper parking ticket usage. The best part? ONECARD members gain exclusive entry to members-only parking at ONECARD Preferred Parking, and also enjoy discounted parking rates!

Mireica® nutri-peau™ , Perfecting from Within

Hey guys, sorry for the lack of postings these past two weeks. Have been super busy with work and Lasallian activities, so there was totally no time at all to blog :( But I'm back now, and I can blog again! :D

First up, I will be blogging about my experience with Mireica® nutri-peau, the first and only internal skincare with stem cells epigenetic factors for perfecting from within our skin. In simpler words, MIREICA is the first and only nutricosmetic fortified with Swiss bio-nutrients for skin stem cell.

More advanced than ever, MIREICA takes internal skincare beyond collagen, anti-oxidants and sun protection, to a new and higher level, incorporating nutrition for skin stem cells. Extracted from a rare plant species, MIREICA’s stem cell extract provides nutrients to strengthen and stimulate our own skin stem cells to produce new skin cells. Strong healthy stem cells are the secret to “perfect” skin cells for beautifully flawless skin.

MIREICA® nutri-peau®'s sophisticated formulation contains 4 key proprietary natural ingredients that work synergistically :

NutriGene®– a ‘skin blueprint’ stem cell extract, that protects and maintain the function of skin stem cells and insure longevity of skin cells, to help our skin perfect from within.

OptaCell®– a ‘skin hydration booster’ ingredient, that improves the skin’s water retaining ability, restore optimal barrier function, replenish essential skin lipids, for a moisturized and supple skin.

EnviroShield®– a ‘skin defense shield’ ingredient, that strengthens internal defense against sun, environment and oxidative stresses, and regulates melanin production, pigmentation and age spots, for an overall brightening and radiant effect.

Micro-BioNutrients™–a ‘skin building blocks’ complex, that stimulates biosynthesis of skin collagen, skin elastin, intercellular matrix and lipids, thus improving skin elasticity, firmness, smoothness and tone.

Suitable all skin types and women of all ages, MIREICA® nutri-peau will help improve the skin’s hydration, tone, firmness, vitality, youthfulness and reduce fine lines. Over time, your skin will also be strengthened, rejuvenated and be better protected against environmental stresses, premature photo-ageing and chronological ageing.

Mireica® nutri-peau™ is available in packs of 30 sachets in powdered form, sufficient for a month's supply. Pour the powder into a glass of super cold water, and you can see it bubbling as it dissolves.

When I first took it, it had the smell of seaweed and it took a few days of getting used to the taste. I later found out that the ‘fishy taste' of MIREICA comes from its natural ingredients derived from marines(fishes), marines plants and plants, TOTALLY NOT SEAWEED AT ALL!!! lol. As we know, these ingredients are really good for the skin and can really help in rejuvenating it and promoting skin stem cell activity.

A pic of me after a month of taking MIREICA, with just eyebrow pencil, eyeliner, and lipstick :D What do you think? any difference?

Verdict: Though the fishy taste of the drink was quite overpowering the first few times, I actually quite liked it after taking it a few times. It was a really refreshing drink and I could see the difference in my skin after drinking it for only two weeks.

Repurchase: Yes

Additional Comments: I think it is a great drink to be consumed if you want more youthful skin in just a month. I could feel that my skin was more hydrated, and has a brightness in skintone that was not there before.

MIREICA retails for RM178 and you can get it at any Guardian, Watsons, Caring, Alpha, Healthlane, Vitacare & independent pharmacies across Malaysia. You can also get it online at www.plincco.com.

For more information just head on over to www.mireica.com or their Facebook page

Shop for Charity at Natta Cosme

Hey lovelies, how has December been treating you thus far? Hope it has been treating you well :)

As you know, Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines was an exceptionally powerful typhoon which began in early November 2013, and as at todate, has killed 6,000 people and counting :(

As citizens of the world, I'm sure we all feel for these people, and though at times we might feel that we are not able to do anything (being so far away), I can assure you, where there's a will, there is a way. While we might not be able to go on ground and provide relief support for the victims, I believe that we can do what we can to help alleviate their burden.

Personally for me, I have donated my clothes and other household materials that are still in good condition to the relief centres who are collecting these to be sent over to the victims in the Philippines.

A lot of other organisations are also doing their part to raise funds for these people, and one of them is Natta Cosme. That is why they have come up with a charity drive where every product under their charity list is sold, they will donate the proceeds to a Typhoon Haiyan relief fund.

Taken from the Natta Cosme site:

"Here in Natta Cosme, you are rewarded with skin care products when you make a donation to the pitiful victims in Philippines. In response to the natural disaster in Philippines, Natta Cosme is now organizing the “Typhoon Haiyan Relief Fund” event to collect funds for the typhoon victims.

However, the fund collecting process is going to be a little bit unique. Specifically,we have a “charity” category on our official website. The sale price of any products with title “charity” or the sale price of any products purchased under the “charity” category will be donated to the typhoon victims in Philippines.

For instance, A product that costs RM 125 is one of the products in the “charity” category. Hence, when you purchase an A product on our official website, you pay for RM 125 and get one Egyptian Magic Cream. However, the *full value, RM 125, will be donated to the typhoon victims. In other words, when you purchase products under the “charity” category, you are making a donation to the typhoon victims; and that means you are getting the skin care products under the “charity” category for free through your kind donations!"

You can do the same too! Just browse the products being sold for charity, and make your purchases! 100% of the money from these products will be donated to the relief fund :)

Browse more products being sold for charity here:
http://www.nattacosme.com/267-charity

So will you help these people?

We might not be able to do great things, but we can do small things with great love ~Mother Teresa.

Santa Hermo Grant my Wish!

The entire month of December is the month of giving, and I have found out that Santa Hermo will be granting wishes to some selected lovely girls thanks to The Butterfly Project!!!

Everybody loves to make lists, and a wishlist is no exception. Therefore, with Santa Hermo granting wishes around the corner, I decided to head on over to Hermo.com.my to see what's available that I would want in my wishlist.

I started off with more than 10 items on my wishlist, but setting a budget of RM80 (and a little bit more), I have narrowed down my list to these two items.

Want to know what I wished for?
Laneige Water Sleeping Pack EX 20ml

First up, I wish for the Laneige Water Sleeping Pack EX 20ml, which costs RM17.80 after discount (original price = RM27). This product brings crystal-clear and even skin tone by removing harmful oxygen and by purifying skin and removes dead cells for vigorous water supply and sleek skin texture.

This product is one of the featured products under stocking stuffers, and I feel that it is a very appropriate gift to purchase for a loved one who loves sleeping masks (like me!) I have always wanted to try this particular brand of sleeping masks, but was a little hesitant as I read that it doesn't really retain as much moisture as it claims. So I have this 20ml pack in my wishlist so that I can try it out and see if it's really good for my skin or not. If it is, I would definitely get the full sized product from Hermo.com.my as it's so much cheaper than in the retail outlets :)

Read more about the product here: http://www.hermo.my/deal/2694-christmas-stocking-stuffers-laneige-water-sleeping-pack_ex-20ml.html

SHILLS (HOT) Miracle Lift Body Contour Control 250ml

Second in my wishlist is the SHILLS (HOT) Miracle Lift Body Contour Control 250ml. This product retails as RM89, but is only RM69 after discount at Hermo.com.my! It is enriched with micro-red crystallized molecule. Its high penetration level helps absorb excessive fat accumulation in area of concern.

As I have cellulite and no waistline at all, I feel that this product would be one worth to try out. I have a small sample size, but I used it so frequently that it ran out before I could see any real visible results. Therefore, having this as one of the products in my wishlist, if I do get it, I will be able to try it out for a longer period and get the body that I want! :D

More info about the product can be found here: http://www.hermo.my/mall/242-shills-hot-miracle-lift-body-contour-control.html

Hence, dear Santa Hermo, I hope that you would grant my wish and send me these two items, and I would be one of the happiest butterflies in KL at this moment!

What items do you have on your wishlist? Any of them similar to mine? tell me what your wishlist is in the comments section below! :)

Kinohimitsu Luau Party: A taste of Hawaii

Ever wondered how Hawaii was like? Ever felt jealous because some people you know went to Hawaii and you couldn't go? Lucky for me, I got a chance to experience how Hawaii was like thanks to Kinohimitsu and The Butterfly Project! :D

The Hawaiian Luau party was held in the heart of KL City, in one of the most relaxing spas in town, the Vila Manja Spa. Even though it was smack right in the middle of the city centre, you could barely hear the sound of the traffic. It was serene and the only sounds to be heard that night was the squeals of delight from the other 49 Butterflies, and the calming flow of the fountain.

The night started off with some games specially created for us. One of them was a Group challenge  where you had to work together to fill a bottle with water. The fastest team wins! There were five sets in total, and happy to say that my group won in our set! :D

As it turns out, there was actually a lesson to be learnt behind the activity, and that is how our absorption rate is affected by the free rads in our body. The villi in our intentines absorb better when clean (like the towel, with a higher surface area), rather than when dirty or clogged (the sponge with a smaller surface area). Therefore by taking the Kinohimitsu J'pan Bio Booster, you can easily absorb the nutrients into your body, hence having a healthier you!

Other activities that night was the spin and win section where we could try our luck by spinning the 'Wheel of Fortune". There were so many prizes up to be won that night, and a few lucky butterflies managed to get their hands on a treatment package at the Vila Manja Spa! I wasn't so lucky, but I did manage to win myself a small bladeless fan courtesy of Kinohimitsu, so now it's on my desktop blowing wind at my laptop :p hehehe

See all those empty glasses? Welll, they are about to be topped up with the Kinomihitsu J'pan Beauty  Drink that helps to remove wrinkles as it's high in collagen content!

In our goodie bag that night, we brought back two bottles of the Beauty Drink, and I must say, it tastes really good :D

Each bottle of the Kinohimitsu J'Pan Beauty Drink contains 2,500mg of high concentrated fish collagen to restore youthful vitality in your skin. Why fish collagen? Because after countless research done, it shows that the structure of fish collagen is nearly matched to human collagen, and thus is suitable for use by humans. This combination helps to boost up the amount of collagen in our body :)

So does my skin look more youthful after drinking the collagen drink? :p

 Time to yam seng!

That night, we were also graced by the attendance of two super hot celebrities! Our hot male celebrity has been an ardent Kinohimitsu user for the past year, and he claims that Kihnohimitsu has managed to help him get and maintain that six-pack abs of his, while our gorgeous Miss Tourism claims that Kinohimitsu has enhanced her chest and firmed her buttocks :D This is definitely a must-have drink for me :D

The star product of the night? It has got to be the J'Pan Bio Booster, it is the first and only symbiotic-organic to boost the body’s absorption power by more than 2 times. How does it do this? It actually enables the host to obtain the optimal absorption of nutrients from the food and health and beauty supplements and gain the maximum benefits from them.

I tried it that night, and I loved how it tasted! It comes in powder form, and you can either take it just as it is, in powder form, or mixed with water. It has a delicious lychee taste, and just one packet a day will ensure you have a healthier body in just one month!

Being at the party with awesome friends, I could not pass up any opportunity to camwhore with them to mark this moment down in my own personal course of history. Here's one of me with le fellow awesome blogger, Charmaine.

Group shot trying to get everyone into the pic :D

Self shot by the water pool, I super love their decorations!!!

Selfie with Syafiqah :D

As we were all at a spa, it is requisite to have Zen moments......

....and vain moments :p

Innanie and Sabby

Oh and do you know what we love best? Camwhoring!!! Special thanks to 123Cheese.my for the awesome pictures and for catering to all our whims that night, even printing many pics for all of us, and for letting us take late into the night :D Some pics that I could find of us that night below:

The must-have solo shot of me, holding up an Oscar and *perasan* as a celebrity blogger :p

With my beautiful babes Furfer and Ben Dan :) Heart you gals!!!!!

Posing with Charmaine and Kah Mon, you can see I have Boing boing skin!

Consummate group picture of all the crazy Beauty Bloggers around :p

Because just one pic is not good enough, we need to have two! :D hohoho

Special thanks to the dedicated staff at 123Cheese.my!

I certainly had a lot of fun at the Kinohimitsu Hawaiian Luau Party, and I would like to say thank you once again to the beautiful people who made it all happen at Kinohimitsu and The Butterfly Project. Your tireless efforts have not gone unnoticed, and I am glad that you have decided to invite me to this super awesomesauce party!!!

A Journey Through Time Closes with Elegance

The last month of November was a very eventful month for me as I was involved in a week-long showcase of luxury timepieces and jewellery at A Journey Through Time VII at Starhill Gallery. Endorsed by The Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia, this year’s A Journey Through Time had once again awed watch & jewellery enthusiasts with exquisite timepieces and jewellery with its display of the latest and most unique collections from world-renowned brands.

Making a grand finale for the closing event was the highly anticipated Starhill Gallery Watch and Jewellery of the Year Awards, which saw some of the world’s leading luxurious brand nominated for the various different awards presented.

On the judging panel for the Starhill Gallery Watch and Jewellery of the Year Awards are renowned local and international horological & jewellery experts, namely Tan Sri Dr Francis Yeoh, Mr. Joseph Yeoh, Mr. Su Jia Xian, Mr. Hirota Masayuki, Mr. Rainer Siegal and Mr. Charles Sutanto. The esteemed judges had the challenging job of selecting the winners from a choice of nominated timepieces & jewellery in seven different categories.

Since it's first event in 2007, AJTT has managed to attract millions of visitors and this year is no different. Sales of the showcased timepieces has exceeded RM50 million, and each year bigger and bigger items are showcased.

As KL is ranked the 4th best shopping destination in the world (even ahead of Paris, Hong Kong and Dubai), world renowned brands are looking to open their boutiques in Starhill Gallery. Tan Sri Francis believes that Starhill Gallery is the catalyst to turn Bintang Walk into the Orchard Road and Oxford Street of Kuala Lumpur, in essence becoming the Paris of the East because KL is a shopping destination, with an array of delectable cuisines.

Also present was  Dato’ Sri Dr. Ng Yen Yen who complimented Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. Francis Yeoh on the success of A Journey Through Time. As Malaysia is rapidly gaining progress as the place to be for everything, especially shopping, Malaysia has to remain duty free. Surely this was what contributed to Kuala Lumpur as the 4th best shopping city in the world.

Priced at US $55 million, the L’Incomparable necklace has excited its many visitors with its sophisticated design and dazzling yellow diamond and is certified by the Guinness World Records as the most valuable necklace in the world.

The spectacular event together with the support of these international brands upheld Starhill Gallery’s status as Malaysia’s premium shopping centre which offers shopping privileges and a duty-free haven for the world’s biggest names in high-end timepieces and jewellery.

It was truly a night to behold and I was glad I am a part of it. There were spectacular timepieces on display and I felt really privileged to be among the patrons that night witnessing it up close. Can't wait for AJTT VIII!!!

Movie Review: Walking With Dinosaurs 3D (2013)

Hey guys, just got back from Nuffnang's Premiere Screening of Walking with Dinosaurs thanks to Ben (who can't make it due to work) and here I am posting up a review! :p

Synopsis: The story is set 70 million years ago in Alaska, high in the Arctic. Each year, the long dark winters – three months of perpetual darkness and violent snow storms – drive the dinosaurs southwards in their thousands on a great annual migration. Amongst the spectacle, we travel with Patchi, a strange but endearing Pachyrhinosaurus with a large frill and horns.

From the moment he is born as the smallest hatchling, Patchi must survive competitive brothers and sisters, a wild and unpredictable world and fierce predators like the wily Troodon and monstrous Gorgosaurus. Witness to the devastating death of his father at the teeth of a Gorgosaurus, Patchi teams up with his brother Scowler and female friend Juniper. They muddle along with the great migration in a series of hair-raising but humorous adventures until finally they reach the wintering grounds and are reunited with their families. But Patchi is separated from his sweetheart Juniper, who he does not meet again till adulthood. By now she has paired up with Patchi’s older brother Scowler, who becomes his greatest rival.

Patchi, even as an adult, remains the smallest; the underdog, alone on the fringes of the herd. But on the migration back to the nesting grounds he proves himself through courage and a collaborative nature and the females begin to follow him, which only intensifies the rivalry with his bigger brother. In a climactic finale, he rescues his reckless rival from a Gorgosaurus pack and wins recognition as the most deserving leader of the herd and admiration from Juniper. He was never the largest or toughest dinosaur but he’s shown that survival of the fittest can mean far more than just being the biggest or strongest.

From the first time I saw the trailer, it didn't really interest me as it looked more like a documentary and not something that I would want to sit through for 1.5 hours. But when the second trailer came out and it showed that it had a semblance of a story and plot, my curiosity was piqued. I mean, talking dinosaurs? lol definitely count me in!

Verdict:6/10. The 3D effect was great, and the cinematics and animation was awesome. BUT.......the storyline was super weak. I felt that they could do more with the story, and introduce more characters than just the few that were in the movie. I mean, where were all the more well known dinosaurs like the T-Rex, of Bronchiosaurus? I really felt that you could develop more of the character, and it's a little silly how Patchi's pompous brother suddenly becomes repentant almost in the course of one day.

Oh and I couldn't understand why they needed a Latino narrator..probably because they felt it would be humourous (which is, at some parts, but after a while it felt forced).

BUT all these aside, I think you should go watch this movie in 3D for the effects. The 3D effects are definitely good, so if you like 3D animations, do go for it :)

MrLens: Competitive, Fast and Reliable

Have any of you ever felt that you are nearing the lifetime of your current contact lenses but can never seem to find the time to go get them at the nearest optician near you? I know I have always felt that way, and I can never seem to get my contacts fast enough before I had to replace them >.<

But thanks to Mr. Lens and The Butterfly Project, I could get my lenses on time this time around because Mr. Lens have made it so much easier to do so! All I had to do was head over to http://www.mrlens.com.my/en and browse through the wide range of contacts they have available!

For me I have always loved coloured contacts, so it's only natural that I went for the ColorVue Big Eyes range. I decided to go with Party Green, as I have been wearing green contacts for quite a while now, and a lot of people actually complimented me on my green eyes, so I definitely know for sure that green suits me.

It's really simple to make your order, all you need to do is select the type of lenses that you want. Once you are satisfied with the different lenses, you enter the landing page for that particular lense, and select your power and colour from the drop down menu. After that, click "Add to Cart" and you will be brought to the next page.

If you're like me and need two different boxes because you have different degrees in each eye, you can click "Continue Shopping" to add more items into your cart. You will have to select the products once more, and "Add to Cart" after which you will be brought to this page again and there will be a list of the products that you have added into your cart.

Once you are satisfied with your order, click on "Checkout" and you will be brought to the next page.

Before you complete your payment, you will have to fill in your address and other necessary items, such as a gift code (if you have one). When you're all done, "Continue" and you will be brought to the payment page.

Follow the simple steps and then voila, you are Finished!

And you're done! Now all you need to do is wait for the lenses to be shipped to you! What I liked about dealing with MrLens is that you will be sent an email about your order, another email when they process your order, and a third email when your order has been shipped, so that you know roughly when you will get your lenses.

It's so super easy and efficient, and the best part is, you will get your lenses in three days (or less!). I made my order on a Monday, and it arrived at my doorstep on a Wednesday! Too bad that time I was in Ipoh, so I couldn't post it up immediately :( But here it is! :D

The ColourVue Big Eyes Hydrogel Lenses that promises "Bigger Eyes and Sexy Looks".  It promises high Oxygen permeability, which means that you get more Oxygen to your eyes and it won't dry out so fast.

It is a three months disposable lense (one of the main reasons I got it cos I can use it three times longer compared to monthly disposable ones), and you can see that's it's not old stock as the expiry date is in 2016.

Inside the box there are two blister packages of the same power, so you if you have the same degree in both eyes, you can just buy one box! If you can see it, the green colour is not very vibrant, but don't be fooled by this. Once you put it on, your eyes will be transformed!

Here's a picture of my eyes taken without flash, under artificial light. You can see the green flecks in my eyes, and my eyes are visibly larger, thanks to the 15mm circumference.

And here's one with flash :D As you can see, the green in my eyes are much more visible, and prettier than under normal lighting :p Everyone I came into contact with kept on complimenting my eyes, and I really loved the way they look. Natural and sultry looking, they definitely give my eyes a different glow :)

Thank you MrLens Malaysia and The Butterfly Project for giving me the opportunity to experience ordering contact lenses from MrLens! I love that their website is so easy to navigate and use, they are so efficient, quick to process your order, and everything comes without any damage!

So do you want to have beautiful eyes like mine? Head over to MrLens Malaysia today and be amazed at their easy order process to get the eye colour you have always wanted.

Til the next time, stay beautiful!

Review: Bloop Nail Polish in H216

heylo dearies :) Tis the season to be jolly, and to head out to Christmas parties, and what better way to dress up your talons than with super bright colours from Bloop? That's right, I'm here once more to review nail polishes and nail strips, thanks to HiShop!

I got the beautiful pink box in the mail last week after I got home from work, and I was quite excited to see all the goodies in the box :D There are two nail strips in the box, one for your fingers, and another for your toes. There is one nail polish from the range of Bloop polishes that they have, and the usual three vouchers from HiShop, MilkADeal, and White :)

I love all the patterns from both the nail strips (aptly named Nail It! with Bloop), the one on the left is for my fingernails, and the one on the right is for my toes. Don't they just look so cute?

I'm reviewing the nail polish first, and as you can see, it's a neon colour. It looks a little coral in the picture, but  in actual fact it's a neon pink :p The colour is so bright, it's suitable to be worn when you go out for parties! I assure you,  your nails will stand out more than your dress :p

Bloop Nail Polish prides themselves on three things:

  • Quick Dry
  • Ultra Glossy
  • Long Lasting

This is the colour that I am reviewing, H216. Other bloggers I saw got quite a diverse range of colours ranging from glitter to dark colours to neon ones. All I can say is while this is not my better choice, I'm glad I didn't get those that I would totally not try out :p

As you can see, the consistency of the nail polish is not too watery, neither is it too thick, just nice to be applied on to the nails without it drying out too quickly and your application become patchy.

So here's a colour of my nails after application :) This is after two coats of paint, and I must say, I am pleasantly surprised at how nicely it turned out!

While I would still stand by my rule that this is not something I will wear to work, I also feel that this colour would go super well with parties! Simply because it's so striking and vibrant!

See the vibrant colour on my nails? It makes every other colour in the picture muted by comparison! I would give it a 7/10 :D

So to test out the top three mantras for bloop's nail polish:

  • Quick Dry - yes, I can attest to that! I applied two coats and they dried in very little time! I was able to type on my keyboard and it didn't smudge at all!
  • Ultra Glossy - not so much in this case, if any it felt quite matte to me
  • Long Lasting - yup, been having them for a while now, and it doesn't show any signs of chipping

One more selfie for the road. I totally love how my nails turned out!

So there you have it ladies and gentlemen, my super awesome party nails thanks to bloop!

Bloop is available for purchase at HiShop in sets of threes for a total price of RM28.

Etude House Mini Haul

Hey guys, let me just ask you a quick question. Have you guys ever wanted to get your hands on some cosmetic or skincare product that have been highly reviewed and raved about by everyone but just couldn't bring yourself to part with your money cos it's too expensive?

Come join in the boat as I am one of those people :p I have always heard praises sung about Etude House products, but whenever I looked at the price tag, I could never bring myself to spend that amount of money on those products.

What do you think is inside this little bag from Etude House?

But when my colleague announced that she was going to Taiwan for a holiday, I quickly pounced on the opportunity because I know that it will not come knocking twice! I immediately gave her a list of what I wanted from Etude House and when she was away, kept hoping that I would be able to get the products I wanted. :p Why did I do that? cos I have heard that Korean brand products are really cheaper than in Malaysia, so I thought, why not?

I went on an Etude House spree......

I gave her a list of only four items that I wanted from Etude House, and this is what she came back with!!!!!!

The four requested items from EH Taiwan (from left):

1. & Rose Flowering Eyes
2. Precious Mineral Any Cushion
3. Collagen Moistfull Water Filler
4. Eraser Show Mascara Cleaner

For the first three products, I have heard great reviews about them but I never purchased them yet, so I took the opportunity to pass it to her to get her to help me buy them. The Eraser Show Mascara Cleaner I have used on occasion, but couldn't find it any more in the boutiques that I went to, so I decided to try my luck and see if they had it in Taiwan :)

So what additional goodies did she bring back for me from EH Taiwan? From left to right:

Back row
1. Bath loofah
2. Collagen Moistfull travel set which has the Essence, soothing cream, and eye cream
3. Brush cleaner
4. Mini sized Precious Mineral Any Cushion
5. Precious Mineral Any Cushion refill
6. Precious Mineral Any Cushion puff
7. Eye mask (back)

Middle row
8. Oodles of BB cream samples

Front row
9. Facial wash and face cream samples
10. Shiny Christmas 2013 facial band

The best part? All of these stuff costed only RM350. If I were to get these products in Malaysia, the total would come up to RM500. I saved RM150 for these products, and I even got more samples and extra goodies! Personally I don't even think the local EH boutiques will give you this much samples and freebies, but to be fair I have not purchased anything from the local boutiques, so if you have and if they have also given you guys this many freebies, please correct me if I'm wrong :)

So which product do you want me to review first? Let me know in the comments section below! :)

Beau Box, the Brand new Beauty Box in town!

Hey lovelies, there is a brand new beauty box in town, and I bet most of you are no stranger to this particular box, which boasts four or more full sized items in their box!

Yes darlings, you guessed it right, it is the highly acclaimed BeauBox, the only beauty box brand in town that promises to ALWAYS give you four or more FULL SIZED items in the box! When the box was first launched a few weeks ago, I was already smitten. Which lady in their right mind would say no to such a beautiful pink box that is both sturdy and pretty at the same time? I knew I had to get it right then.

The theme for their debut box is Bare Beauty, inspired by the encouragement to everyone to express their individuality. There is no need to cover up, and basically, you are unique, and you are given the right to shine in your own light, to be yourself, and to be special.

The products as is with other boxes, are wrapped in paper, but without any filler paper, though there was a thick wad of bubble wrap on top. I wonder why there are no filler papers considering that the paper will absorb some of the shock from the handling of delivery companies.

Quick sneak peak of the products inside, there are five altogether, four of which are beau.box cosmetic limited edition brands, and the fifth is the guest brand, Jelly Pong Pong.

Stare Palette, The Eye Contouring Kit (12g/ RM149)

A combination of 6 colours in a lightweight packaging makes it travel friendly. This colour combination contours, highlights, shades, and accentuates the eyes. With the Stare Palette, you can easily create a deep setting sultry look or alluring smokey eyes! It is so multi dimensional, some use it to fill and shape the brows!

This was one of the products I was most excited to receive as I loved eyeshadows and could justify getting just any type of palette. But when I got this in the box and opened it up, I was quite disappointed to find that my highlighter had crushed and that the powder went everywhere. There was even some of the highlighter powder on some of the other products.

So I went to their Facebook page to see if there was any way that they could remedy this. I saw on their page that they mentioned the Stare Palette was pretty fragile, because of the very intricate baking process and fine powder, so if there was any problem with the palette, we could just email to them and send them a picture of the defective product and they will do the necessary.

So I sent them an email and a picture of the crushed palette (above), and they got back to me within 24 Hours! Awesome customer service :D I gave them my details and they replied me telling me they will take 48 Hours to process and send me a replacement straightaway after processing.

I was actually quite impressed at the level of professionalism they displayed, and really, this is the way things should be done. As long as the product is defective, I believe that the Companies should immediately replace the defective product provided that sufficient evidence has been shown.

Wonder Powder Intuitive Mineral Powder Foundation in Nude (6g/ RM79)

This product reduces imperfection and gives your skin a radiant and luminous glow. Formulated with skin-compatible minerals, this product is intuitively designed to create a natural dimensional finish that allows your skin to look its best without overpowering it. It also provides a silky matte finish that helps with excessive shine and also provides a broad-spectrum protection towards UVA/UVB rays.

I have always been on the lookout for a good face powder that I can use on a daily basis, so I was quite glad to get this. However, I am not sure whether or not to feel disappointed that this is quite a small product, even though it is full sized. The size of this is roughly about the size of the old 50 cents coin, just larger by a little. And judging by the price, it's quite pricey for a face powder of only 6g. So if I were to use this and I liked it, the only thing holding me back would be the price for only 6g *just saying*

Sexy Blender, dewy Blending Sponge (RM49)

Dip, Squeeze, and Blend. This curvy blending foundation sponge is the best tool any girl could have. The sexy blender helps you to blend your foundation or base make up to achieve silky and dewy skin. You will never look cakey and "over-powderful" again!

Lol I really love the way they described the blender :p On a serious note, I was quite glad that this was one of the products they gave out. I was deciding whether or not to get the Beauty Blender, but now that I have this, I won't anymore!!! Hohoho let's try out this baby first and see how it fares :)

Rain Maker Serum (30ml/ RM229)

This serum contains Hyaluronic Acid which has the ability to hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water, drawing moisture out of the environment and onto the surface of the skin. Phyto-actives and antioxidants boost clarity and revive tired and sluggish skin, assisting the skin to find its equilibrium. It is non-comedogenic and ensures the deep delivery of nutrients and actives to reveal a fresher, younger, firmer and brighter complexion.

Have not tried this product yet, but the description looks promising. I would definitely trust something with Hyaluronic Acid, especially if it's non-comedogenic, as I have large pores. Will post up a review of this product and let you guys know the results!

Jelly Pong Pong Lip Blush (2.5g/ RM69)

A moisturising lip stain that tints your lips with just the right amount of juicy colour and hydrates like a balm. Apply liberally, purse and let the silky lightweight texture melt onto your lips.

I love the colour I got right away, as it's a soft pink colour, which I believe will be a little sheer on my lips, giving me just the right amount of tint without being too overpowering. Will try this out too and let you guys know! :)

So there you have it ladies and gentlemen, the very first full-sized subscription based Beauty Box in town :) Their mantra is that it takes time to try out the products and to experience the products, so sample sizes just don't cut it anymore.

The price of one Beau Box is RM129, but is available for a special introductory price of only RM89! Like most BB companies, you get reward points if you purchase the three or six months package, which you can use to redeem certain full sized items, or another BeauBox. What's more, they promise that the minimum value for all the products in the box is RM370. So you pay RM89 for a box with products in it worth RM370 and above!

Oh and do you remember me mentioning how my Stare Palette was crushed? I got a replacement within the week!

They have also specially included a note for me, thanking me for my feedback. What's more, I got another extra free gift too!

So here's my replacement for the crushed palette that was in my initial box. I loved how they took EXTRA precaution to ensure that my products are safe. There were tons and tons of bubble wrap! The products were bubble wrapped, and placed into a box, which was ALSO bubble wrapped. Talk about taking extra precaution the second time around!

Can you see the little purple coloured box in the lower left picture? That's the extra little gift that they sent to me!

It's from their guest brand of the month, and is the Jelly Pong Pong Chic Shine :D Not sure how much it costs though as they didn't provide me with the details of the product.

However, what I do know is that it can be used for the cheek and lips. This particular shade that I got (Brazilian) can also be used as a bronzer! Hurray three in one use! :D

Verdict: 8/10.I find that they did it pretty right with their first debut box, there is quite a lot of make up products, and the skincare product is also suitable for use for all skin types. The cosmetic colours are all very neutral shades and I can safely say that anyone who gets this box will be able to use the products featured. Oh and they have excellent customer service :D Gave them an extra point for that.

Repurchase: Yes

Additional Comments: I love that their box is pink in colour, and has the subtle UV stamping design that makes it even more appealing to girls. It is very sturdy, and can be reusable for many different types of uses! The makeups are in the Beau.Box brand which is specially made, so for the price you pay, taking into account all this items, is actually pretty worth it. Definitely because it is the special beau.box brand, it is a limited edition, so you can only get them at BeauBox.

So will you be interested in getting a BeauBox for yourself? Visit http://www.beauboxcosmetics.com/ now!

Don't forget to visit their FB Page too!

Review: Bloop Nail Strips

Hey guys, Christmas is now over!!! How did you guys celebrate? :) I for one, had a blast with my family, and le bb gave me a gift that I will always remember and cherish :) Want to know what that is? stalk my instagram and find out for yourself! :D hehehe

But apart from celebrating with loved ones, I celebrated in style as well, with my bloop nail strips, which I will be reviewing in this post, thanks to HiShop and bloop!

The Nail Strip I got was the striped version. It comes with a strip of 12 stickers, with the extra two being the larger sized one so that you could cut it down to size in case anything else goes wrong.

Bloop is an Australian based brand, and their value proposition is that the nail strips are super thin (so much so that air can penetrate through to the nails), fast and easy to use, eco-friendly, lasts a very long time (up to a week!), and the best part (for me at least) was that there is no drying time. I am a very impatient person, and I love keeping my hands (or fingers) busy. So whenever I apply on nail polish, it's a bit hard for me to stay still waiting for them to dry >.<

It even comes with a nail file! What is it used for, you may ask? well you will know soon enough :)

My nail strip is striped with lots of warm colours, being red, orange, yellow, interspersed with glitter and black :) Kinda reminds me of a very colourful tiger :p

So what you do is you cut out the nail strip, and shape it to your nails. As these come in a standard size, there will definitely be a size for everyone, considering that it's big enough to fit all types of nail sizes. In the beginning it is a little hard to fit to your nail, especially with a hard backing on where the sticker is stuck, but after a while you get used to it, so it's ok :)

So when you are done with your sizing, peel off the top clear layer, and remove the sticker from the backing. Then, carefully stick the nail strip down onto your nails, being very careful to align them exactly the way you have cut them. The sticker is REALLY THIN so you have to be careful when handling them. Once you have aligned them carefully, press down in the middle and slowly press it in place from inside to outside, so that you don't get any air bubbles.

Once you are done, take the nail file, and place it vertical to your nails. Slide them down in one fluid motion, in order to file off the nail strips. Be firm when you file your nails down, but don't use too much force, else you will also file off your nails at the same time, and leave jagged sides.

As you can see in the picture, the nail strips are thin, and can be filed off easily :)

So once you have filed the excess sticker off, this is how it looks like :) It's up to you if you want to put a layer of top coat to protect the sticker, but personally for me I didn't. I wanted to check how long the strip will stay on my nails without any top coat.

Don't you just love the design? Some of the strips have concentrated layers of glittered stripes, so what I did was I cut the part that had less glitter to ensure that when I put them on, I can see the glitter on my nails :) I was a little iffy at the design at first, but it has started to grow on me, and I love it right now :)

Verdict:8/10. The nail strips are quite thin, and you can barely feel that they are there. While it's a little hard to put it on at first since this is my first time trying them out, I got the hang of it after a while, and I really like how easy it is to just apply. It definitely saves a lot of drying time, and I can immediately go about doing my work after I have applied them.

Repurchase: Yes

Additional Comments: To my surprise, the nail strips actually had a very long staying power. After I applied them, I went on to do my usual chores around the house, and you would think that with stickers they will come off after a few days. I have had them on for about a week now, and they are still sticking to my nail surface as strong as ever! Definitely very worth it :)

My Beauty Resolutions for 2014

So, Christmas is over and we will welcome yet another new year in a matter of days!

I don't know about you, but I am super excited about it because this means that Chinese New Year is coming up, and I will be flying back to my hometown to spend quality time with my friends and family back where I come from :)

But let's not get too far ahead of ourselves. First, we have to welcome the new year, and what better way than to map down your resolutions for 2014?

Personally for me, I feel that I should have two types of resolutions this year.

Type 1: My full year resolutions, which can encompass anything under the sun, like, personal achievements, goals, career path, and perhaps getting married? :p ok so the getting married part might be too soon hehehe

Type 2:My beauty resolutions. Because let's face it, I'm not getting any younger, and we womenfolk have to be extra diligent in keeping our skin beautiful and healthy! And that is why this demands a list of its own.

So moving on, my beauty resolutions.

1. Definitely to go green, and to be eco-friendly, and the best way to do that is to only go for products that are organic, and chemical-free. It has to be from natural plant ingredients, and contains botanical extracts.

Let's face it. Would you put harmful chemicals on your skin? I don't think so. Personally for me, once I get a bad reaction on my skin after using a particular skincare product, I will immediately stop using it. Best to stop no matter how good the product claims to be, and protect your skin from these harmful ingredients.

2. To be less lazy with my daily and nightly skincare regime. More often than not, I have caught myself falling asleep without properly removing my make up, or I just remove it with my make up remover and fall asleep quickly after that (mostly cos I am reassured by their claim that they remove make up 100% and have moisturising properties so I don't need to wash my face after that).

I think having two resolutions is good enough for a year :p Goodness knows how hard it is to even keep to one >.<

I firmly believe that by keeping with these two resolutions, it is enough to bring out beauty from within, and to make me more ready for the year after that :D

What do you think? Any beauty resolutions you would like to share? Let me know in the comments section below! :)

Til the next time, stay beautiful!

Review: Linden Leaves Body Oil: Absolute Dreams

Hey ladies, the weather has been a little erratic lately, with heavy rains one time, and bright shining sun the next. Please remain hydrated with lots of water, and also remember to moisturise and hydrate your skin as well!

Having said that, this is my first post in 2014, and what better way to start it than with a review of a skincare product from Linden Leaves! I'm sure some of you would have already heard of the product before, which is a Body Oil themed Absolute Dreams.

Linden Leaves Body Oil: Absolute Dreams (60ml/ RM168)

This body oil is made of Lavender (as you can see in the pic), and it comes in a 60ml bottle (there's another larger bottle of 250ml). I love the size of the bottle. It's small enough for travel, and it looks absolutely beautiful with the single lavender stalk in there.

The body oil itself doesn't smell too heavily of the lavender even though the flora is the dominant scent here. Rather, it smells quite earthy, with hints of lavender, and also rosehip.

Organic rosehip and avocado oils blended with pure sweet almond and apricot kernel oils, enriched with vitamin E and infused with a luxurious blend of lavender, sandalwood, cedarwood and orange, to keep skin soft and nourished.

This oil is designed to be used in place of a lotion after a daily shower - massage into warm skin for deep, long-lasting hydration. Also lovely to use as a relaxing massage or bath oil. According to the lady at Skintopic, the best way to make the most out of the oil is to massage it into your skin after your shower, and then to complement it with your current body lotion, to completely lock in the moisture into your skin, hydrating it really well. I did as she recommended, and my skin felt really hydrated the whole night, up to the next day!

List of the ingredients in the body oil. As you can see, there oils used are certified organic. So please don't be worried about putting inorganic stuff on your body :D

So how to apply and how much should you apply? You only need two drops of the oil for your entire lower arm. In total, only four drops needed for your entire arm. Rub it in, and voila! Your hand will feel super moisturised :D

After trying this for a week, I would say that this would be my go-to body oil whenever I feel that my body needs some hydrating, which is every day thanks to the weather :p It absorbs into the body very quickly and doesn't leave any oily residue. Another plus point is that the sweet scent lingers quite a while, so you can just enjoy it :)

My only gripe is that for such a small bottle, it's really quite expensive :( 60ml for RM168.

Verdict:8/10.

Repurchase: Yes . Because it's so good! :D

Pros
  • Travel sized makes it easy to bring around
  • Sweet scent
  • Absorbs into body easily
  • No oily residue

Con
  • Price

Review: Cerro Qreen Cosmetic Makeup Brush Set

Hey darlings :) How have you been? It's the long weekend, and nothing says a better weekend than three whole days of fun and outings!

Today I will be reviewing the Cerro Qreen Cosmetic Makeup Brush Set, all thanks to Natta Cosme!

I first heard about Natta Cosme through TBP to do a review for their Thayers Rose Petal Witch Hazel with Aloe Vera Toner. Since then I have always been stalking their page cos they have so much awesome stuff and when I found out that they will be giving out cosmetic brushes to bloggers to be reviewed, I was ecstatic to be listed as one of them!

Because really, who doesn't want a set of professional brushes to complement their make up routine? I got the Natta Cosme parcel in the mail and I got all excited to try it out!

What I love about Natta Cosme is that they always have these printed notes and little gifts in the box together with the goodies. In this little ring box, they gave us each a Ferrero Rocher! I love dealing with them as you can really see the effort they put in to make the package as beautiful as possible, and making the unboxing process a  joy for the receiver :)

The brushes come in a blue PU Leather Travel case which makes it easy for anyone to bring around for travel. This cosmetic brush set contains 7 pieces of makeup brushes, and each piece is suitable for each part of your face :)

From the Natta Cosme website:
Cerro Qreen is a professional cosmetics tool brand from US. Cerro Qreen's makeup brushes are made of a composition of animal hair with sythetic fibre, giving the brushes a gentle and smooth texture. Cerro Qreen is a popular brand amongst many professional makeup artists, best known for its high quality products and reasonable price. Cerro Qreen is a well-established brand in US with many years of experience in making professional makeup tools. Cerro Qreen is definitely your choice of makeup brushes' brand!

After opening up the brush case, you can see that there is a flap covering the brush fibres and that's a plus point for me because when I roll up the case, I wouldn't want the fibres to mix with each other and dirty each one.

This image is taken from the Natta Cosme website, and you can see what are the functions of the different brushes.

However, personally for me, I have a different use for each one, and they are below:

Spoolie: This is what this particular brush is called, and it can be used as a mascara wand to separate your lashes, or as a 'comb' to pat your eyebrows into place. I use this for my eyebrows as my current spoolie has already been used past its use-by date, so this really came into handy for me when I needed it.

Angled Eyeliner Brush: It's angled for a reason, and I use it for a more precise lining of my eyes whenever I use gel liner, or dark shadow :)

Lip Brush: Its tip is small enough, and I use it to apply lipstick on my lips. As it is very soft, the lipstick glides on my lips easily and smoothly, and it enables me to line my lips more precisely.

Concealer Brush: I use liquid concealer, and this size is just right for me to spread it out and tap onto places where I needed concealing. BUT you can opt to use this as a small eyeshadow brush where you can dab some eyeshadow in the inner corners of your eyes, or near your tear ducts. The bristles are really fine, so you can expect to have a very clean application.

Eyeshadow Brush: Personally for me, I usually just use two eyeshadow brushes cos I feel having three is a little overkill as I usually use only a maximum of three colours for my eyes. I like to have them as light to dark, so I use this for my light and medium colours.

Large Eyeshadow Brush: This brush I use for the darker tones, and also to smudge my eyes to achieve the smokey effect. I will dab on a little dark shadow at the outer corners of my eyes and below it, and it works perfectly in blending the colours together.

Face Brush: I use this to pat face powder on my face to set my make up when I am done, and it gives me the airbrushed effect with no sticky feeling at all.

The brush bristles are made out of fibre, and is 0.05mm thick. It is really soft and comfortable, and on top of that it has anti-bacterial properties!

While most people argue that pony or goat hair are the best choices when picking out make up brushes, I think it's best to have brushes made with synthetic fibres as well. This is because not everyone is suited for animal hair and some are sensitive to it. Therefore, these brushes are suited to all skin types because it is made with synthetic fibre!

The brush handle is made out of natural wood, and has a shiny surface with the Cerro Qreen brand imprinted in each brush. As you can see, these brushes are quite small in size (I would say travel sized) and this is either good or bad, depending on how you see it. It's good for those who love to travel as it is small enough and you can bundle these brushes in your travel bag when you are on the go. However, it's not recommended for those who have larger fingers, as you might find it hard to grip and maneuvre.

The brush set it priced at only RM36.90. But they are now on promotion and you can get it for only RM29.52! This is really affordable as there are 7 pieces, which makes one brush only about RM4!

Verdict: 8/10

Pros
Affordable
Soft fibres
Travel Sized (so you can bring it when travelling)
Each piece is suitable for every part of your face

Cons
Travel Sized (those with larger fingers might find it harder to grip

So would you like to own your very own set of brushes? You can head over to Natta Cosme today to get it before CNY! That way you can have a more professional make up look when you go out visiting and celebrating the festive season with your loved ones :)

Review: Purederm Cucumber Eye Pads

Holla ladies! especially after a long weekend of fun I think that most of you might have really tired eyes and dark circles under them, looking like a panda, yes? For those of you that don't, yay! but for those like me, it's hard to keep up with another workweek without refreshing my eyes and giving them a breath of fresh air (not literally!)

One way I refresh my eyes apart from my normal eye care regime, is I use these Purederm Cucumber Eye Pads once in a while. So here I am to review this and hopefully you will find it useful in your next search for eye care :)

The Cucumber Eye Pads are soft pads that are pre-moistened with real cucumber and other soothing ingredients. It has the aroma of freshly cut cucumbers, and help to reduce puffiness and appearance of dark circles under your eyes. The package comes with 24 pre-moistened pads, so you can use it a total of 12 times. It claims to be able to make your eyes feel refreshed after just one use.

What do you think? Challenge accepted!

So here are the list of ingredients for the eye pads (lol it sounds like iPad) and lookie here! This product is made in Korea!

Of course with the precautionary measures like not to reuse pads, to consult a doctor if you experience skin irritation, etc.

This is the container storing the pads, and I like and dislike it at the same time. I like it because of the size, I can reuse the container after I have finished with my pads, and the container is plastic and sturdy, so I don't have to worry about it breaking if I accidentally drop them.

I dislike it ALSO because of the size. Look at that! the 24 moistened pads barely took up HALF of the container. What a waste of space. I would love it more if they were to give 50 pre-moistened pads instead. Either that, or make the container smaller so as not to deceive the public.

The container also comes with pincers that you can use to pick up the eye pads so as not to contaminate the remaining pads in the container. As it is a damp environment in there, the less contaminants you introduce into the container, the better as you will be putting these on your eyes.

So this is how the eye pads look like. They are really thin, about the thickness of a piece of paper. I like how they made it look like cucumbers :) Really nice touch.

When I was using the eye pads, I had the minty cooling feeling on my eyes, and I like it. I relaxed almost immediately and I was really comfortable having them on my eyes.

After using them, my eyes actually felt quite refreshed. However, not much change in my dark circles, so perhaps I need to use them for a longer period in order to see the difference?

You can get the Purederm Cucumber Eye Pads  at any Watsons store (or drugstore pharmacies) for the price of RM19.90. I got them at a sale, so I only paid RM16.90 for them :)

Verdict:6.5/10

Repurchase: Maybe

Pros
Refreshing feeling after usage
Comes with pincers to avoid contamination

Cons
The size of the container is misleading
Only able to be used for 12 times

So would you get this Eye Pad for your eyes? Let me know in the comments section below!

Restaurant Nepal: Serving Authentic Himalayan Cuisine

Hey guys, today I will be reviewing an eatery outlet very near to where I work, and that is Restaurant Nepal, a place that serves authentic Himalayan Cuisine.

I've never tried  Himalayan cuisine before, and usually when I passed by this place, I would think twice about going in because it looks pricey and expensive. BUT I was wrong. The food was exceptionally good, and the price is really not super expensive that I had initially thought. So what did I have that night? Read on to find out!

 Shangri-Lla (RM9 per glass, RM40 per jug)

The favourite drink we had that night was Shangri-Lla. It's a special house drink with a combination of wine, fruit punches, and sliced apple. We actually had quite a lot of glasses that night because it tasted just so refreshing, and the crunchy apple had a distinctly tangy taste to it thanks to the wine :) *two thumbs up*!

Tasting Snack Platter (RM24)

First dish that we were served is the Tasting Snack Platter, which has 6 different types of dishes on it. The mini dumplings that look like Xiao Long Bao is called Momo, and these are boiled. This can be like a starter, if you will. It has the best selling flavours on Nepal and if you're here with your family or a big group, this is the dish to order to share :)

The other dishes on the plate are:
Bhuteko Bhatmas– crispy soy beans marinated in Nepalese spices
Chicken Chili– tastes like sweet and sour chicken! Very Chinese!
Aloo Silam - boiled potatoes marinated with redo onion and Silam, unique Nepalese herb,
Mushroom peas and Nepalese salad

Up close of the Momo, which tastes just as good as the dumplings I love to eat. They are juicy, tasty, made from chicken and chives, and are simply delicious :D

Momo (Fried) (RM12)

Here's the fried version of the Momo. equally as delicious, but not as juicy :D

Tawa Maccha (RM14)

Tawa Maccha is grilled fish, served with a side of lime and Nepalese salad. Tastes like our mamak ikan bakar, and you will definitely get your money's worth as they serve you two fish instead of one :)

Chow Mien (RM9)

Yes, the name does sound distinctly familiar with the cantonese chow min :p And yes, it is wok fried. Though it tastes a little like the fried noodles that the Malaysians are so familiar with, it is distinctly different that the ingredients give off a milder taste, with Nepalese sauce.  The noodles are also different, not the normal yellow noodles that we are usually served with, but the ones here are thicker, and feels less doughy.

Chicken Skewers

This is a new item on the menu, but I didn't manage to catch its name, so I'll just call it chicken skewers. Basically it's tender chicken breasts marinated with special Nepalese spices, and grilled to perfection. I really liked this one as the meat was very juicy and not dried up and hard at all. It is served with a side of lime juice, and this adds a tingling taste to the chicken when you bite into it. Definitely something that I will recommend to anyone who comes here :)

Chatamari (RM12)

Looks like a pizza at first glance, but is actually a pancake mix with egg :) It's kind of like a Nepalese pizza, and is topped with onions, chicken, carrots, and tomatoes :) Again, this is a dish that you can call to share as there are 8 pieces on the plate and is definitely enough to go around :)

Farsi Ko Dal with Mutton (RM18)

The Farsi Ko Dal is a blend made from pumpkin, and this particular dish is cooked with mutton. I initially thought it was just your typical everyday curry but after tasting it, I realised that it's a very special type of pumpkin curry (though it really looks like the ordinary type). The taste is very smooth, and the distinct taste of the lamb is complemented very well with the pumpkin.

Thakali Khana (RM15)

Thakali Thali Khana is a traditional Thali rice set which comes with black or red bean dal, Nepalese Curry, curry vegetables, green spinach, chutneys and salad. Robin mentioned to us that this dish is very popular in Nepal as it is a very well rounded dish with carbs, proteins, and savoury taste. When in Nepal, people usually eat this for lunch together.

There are 3 types of Thakali Khana set to choose from:
Kukhurako Masu Bhat (RM15)– Thali rice set with Nepalese Curry Chicken (shown above)
Khasiko Masu Bhat– Thali rice set with Nepalese Curry Lamb
Saag Sabji Ra Bhat– Vegetarian Thali set with Nepalese Curry Vegetables

Thukpa (RM9)

This is definitely hands down one of my favourite dishes of the night. This is a type of Nepalese soup dish, and you can order it spicy, or not. Though for me when I ordered it spicy, it wasn't as spicy as I thought it would be (but you can add on the spice later, no worries). It's most probably because it is cooked with the Nepalese spicy curry. The Curry is made of Nepalese chilli which has a quick spicy effect but doesn’t stay long in the mouth. So I don't feel the spiciness >.<

It also has a little sweet soury taste like light tom yam but is different. I would definitely reccommend this for a rainy day when you need something to heat you up :)

Kheer (RM8)

Kheer is rice pudding cooked in milk, bay leaves, and clover.

Sewai (RM6)

Sewai is vermicelli pudding cooked in milk & coconut cream.

Though they mention that these are desserts, they felt quite heavy (being rice and vermicelli) to me. But they're sweet and the condiments goes very well with the cream and milk. Personally for me I would not take them as I would have already been too full from my meal, so I would definitely recommend to you that if you want to partake of the desserts and enjoy them, then you should leave some space for them.

Overall, I really enjoyed my experience dining in this place, and I would definitely return to it :) I love the atmosphere in the place, and the prices are not overly expensive. You can really get a decent meal here for under RM50, and I think that's as good a place as any to start hunting for food that you have never tried before, i.e. Nepalese Himalayan Cuisine :)
